What size are bunk bed mattresses?
The size of a bunk bed mattress depends on the type of bunk bed you have or are looking to buy.
Standard bunk beds are the most common type of bunk bed. They sleep one child on the top bunk and one child on the bottom bunk. Both of these mattresses are usually single mattresses - these measure 90cm x 190cm (3ft x 6ft 3in).
Three sleeper bunk beds have a single mattress (90cm x 190cm, 3ft x 6ft 3in) on the top bunk and a small double (120cm x 190cm, 4ft x 6ft 3in) or double mattress (135cm x 190cm, 4ft 6in x 6ft 3in) on the bottom bunk.
The depth or thickness of the top bunk mattress is incredibly important for your child's safety.
The top bunk mattress should sit at least 16cm below the top of the safety barrier. Your bunk bed should have a mark or indication on the top bunk of the maximum mattress height.
