You can fit two standard-sized pillows on a small double bed, but you may find that they hang over the edge of the mattress slightly.

Standard UK pillows measure around 48cm x 74cm, meaning that two placed side by side would leave around 14cm of each pillow hanging off the edge of your bed.

If you sleep alone on your small double mattress, why not try out a king size pillow instead? Standard UK king size pillows usually measure around 48cm x 91cm which would fit perfectly at the head of your bed.

This can lead to potential discomfort while you sleep and premature wear and tear on the mattress.

For some manufacturers, using the wrong size mattress on a bed frame can also invalidate the guarantee or warranty of your mattress or bed.

You should only use double mattresses with double beds, and small double mattresses with small double beds.
