What is reflex foam in mattresses?

Reflex foam is a type of polyurethane foam used as a support or comfort layer in some mattresses. The foam is made of tiny bubbles that compress sideways when you apply pressure to the mattress.

The support layer makes up two thirds of the bottom of a mattress. If relfex foam is used as this support layer, it will either be as one large block of relfex foam or multiple layers of reflex foam stacked together.

When used as a comfort layer, a thin layer of reflex foam is placed on top of the support section of your mattress.

Reflex foam provides a firmer sleep surface, so you don’t sink into the foam as you would with a memory foam or latex mattress. Mattresses containing reflex foam are often cheaper than memory foam and latex mattresses.
