When you buy online from MattressOnline.co.uk Ltd you have the choice of applying for instant finance by adding your purchase to the shopping basket, selecting the option to PaybyFinance, and completing a finance application form. The whole process only takes a few minutes and is simple and secure. Once your finance application is approved, you will receive an e-mail advising you of how to download the finance agreement. Please read this carefully checking that all the details are correct, then print and sign the finance agreement twice. Post the document to the address shown on the finance agreement. Following receipt of your finance agreement and a few additional checks, your goods will be dispatched.

Applying for online finance
Applying for online finance couldn't be easier or more convenient. Once you've chosen the products you'd like to purchase, simply complete a brief online application form accessed via the 'checkout'. Just follow the simple instructions, entering your personal details as required and we'll do the rest.

1. Am I eligible for interest free credit?
In order to apply for finance you must:
- Be over 18 years of age
- Work at least 16 hours per week or be retired with an income
- Be a resident of mainland UK for at least the past 12 months
If you are a homemaker* you can still apply under your own name but you will need your spouse's employment details in order to process your application. Unfortunately we are unable to offer online finance to residents of Eire.
*A gender-neutral term for a housewife or a househusband.
2. Can I PaybyFinance on any purchase with MattressOnline.co.uk?
You need to spend a minimum of £500 to be eligible to PaybyFinance.
3. Can I pay more than a 10% deposit?
Yes. You can pay anything up to the total amount of your order minus the minimum loan amount of £270.
If your order comes to a total of £600, you can pay a maximum deposit of £330.
£600 (Order total) - £270 (Minimum loan amount) = £330 (Maximum deposit).
4. How is my application assessed?
First of all, we confirm your identity; making sure you are who you say you are.
We then check that you meet the eligibility criteria mentioned in FAQ 1.
Next, we use credit scoring to assess your application whereby points are awarded for each answer given. Age, income and occupation are taken into consideration.
Then, your credit score, along with information held about you by credit referencing agencies, will be assessed. As a result, your application will either be accepted or declined at this point.
Please note: This information allows us to produce consistent decisions, ensuring all our applicants are treated fairly. Credit scoring does not discriminate on the grounds of sex, race, religion or disability.
5. What type of information do credit reference agencies hold about me?
Some of the information is public information, for example electoral roll, County Court Judgements and bankruptcies. Other lenders may also file information about accounts you hold with them for instance this could include your payment history and outstanding balance on these accounts. Any requests for credit, where a credit reference search has been undertaken, will also be filed, although the result of the request is not recorded.
6. How do I obtain a copy of this information?
You should send a cheque for £2.00 made payable to the relevant company, together with details of all addresses at which you have lived over the last 6 years:

7. Great! My application was successful. What happens next?
Within minutes of being approved a credit agreement will be presented to you. You will then be asked to sign it in one of the following ways, depending on how your application was assessed:
If you have been offered the ability to e-sign your credit agreement. This involves carefully reading through all the information presented to you and clicking the relevant sections to agree to its terms.
Once you have agreed to the terms of the credit agreement, MattressOnline.co.uk will be notified and take it from there. You do not need to do anything else.
As soon as we receive your e-signed credit agreement from Hitachi, which is usually within 72 hours, we will contact you via email to arrange delivery - this should be to the timescale detailed in your order process.
If you are not eligible to e-sign, for whatever reason, you will be asked to sign your credit agreement the old fashioned way. You can either:
- Print and return a signed credit agreement
- Request for the credit agreement to be posted to you (perfect for those without a printer)
Either way, make sure you read the document thoroughly before signing the relevant sections. The return address will be on the credit agreement. We recommend you send your documents via recorded delivery.
Please note: If you choose to have your credit agreement sent to you, you will receive the documents in approximately 5 to 7 days. Products will not be allocated to your order until your completed and signed agreement is returned and received by Hitachi Capital. Shipment of your goods will follow soon after your agreement has been returned to our Finance Company.
8. Oh no! My application was declined. What was the reason?
If you were unsuccessful with your application, is usually based on one, or a combination of the following:
- Your credit score (note that every finance company will score you differently)
- Adverse credit reference agency information
- You are considered to be overcommitted
- You are under 18 years of age
- Your existing account performance with other lenders
Please note: We will be unable to provide you with the main reason why your application was declined.
9. Can I re-apply?
Yes, of course! We acknowledge that your circumstances change and just because we have refused a previous application, it does not mean that we'll automatically turn down a further request. We do suggest however, that you have at least 6 months between applications.
10. Can I request for my order to be sent elsewhere?
No. Unfortunately, in order to safeguard against fraud, we have to send your order to your home address detailed in your application.
11. When will payments start?
Payments will start approximately one month after the delivery of your order. A welcome letter will be sent to you confirming the first payment date.
12. How do I make my repayments?
Your repayments will be paid out of your account over a period of 6, 9 or 10 months by Direct Debit. You can choose the term that works best for you when completing the application.
13. Can I pay the remainder of the debt off early?
Yes, of course! If you can financially manage to pay off the rest of your debt then please do so, by all means. You are able to make full or part settlement of your balance at any time by contacting Hitachi and letting them know you want to make a full or partial settlement. Please note that if you make an extra payment to part settle and do not advise Hitachi you direct debit will stop until the value of extra payment has been used. For example if your monthly payment is £30 and you pay an additional £60 your direct debit would stop for 2 months.
