What is a divan base?

A divan bed base only is a specially-designed platform for your mattress, upholstered in your choice of fabric. Divan bed bases are great if you already have a mattress, and simply need a base for it.

They're practical, sturdy, easy to assemble and often cheaper than bed frames. Divan bases include castors (wheels) or fitted legs, an optional matching headboard and drawers or ottoman storage underneath.

Alternatively, you can also choose a divan with a mattress as a complete set.

How long does a divan base last?

Divan bed frames can last many years. Of course, how long the base lasts depends on how frequently you use it, and how well you look after it. In line with advice from The Sleep Council and National Bed Federation, you should change your mattress and divan base every seven years. Are divan beds better?
